Shred Ten - The Post PTO Reboot
Vacation is the one thing all of us 8-5, M-F, only major bank holidays off, people LIVE for. When that week comes, our carefully crafted schedule goes out the window. Any healthy habits we had or have been building, quickly go the way of the DooDoo. No big deal, we can get back on the wagon when we get back!
Then you get back, and need a vacation from your vacation. The idea of meal prep goes out the window. Your body is jonesing for sugar and grease. You struggle to get back into your 8-5 routine, waking up is agony, putting on work clothes feels like death. You realize how much life sucks because you're not some super lush person who doesn't have to work.
I was determined not to be this person this time. I had been working too hard and had already lost 10 pounds. I was not going to keep yoyoing like I've been doing for the last five years. So this year, weeks before vacation I started to program my brain a little differently. I didn't just say, "I can just start over when I get back!" Nope, I started by telling myself for one, I wasn't going to go completely off the rails while on Vacation. And two, when I got back I was going to do a 10 day shred.
Shred 10 is a companion to my Juice Plus friends. It's a quick and doable approach to resetting your system. No insane fasts, no all juice diets, no crazy containers to control portion sizes. Why is it so doable? For starters, its just 10 days. That's it. You can do anything, ANYTHING for 10 days! That's not even two weeks! So the next time you need a little reboot, consider this shred.

How does it work? It's simple, you do two Juice Plus Complete shakes a day, drink a ton of water, get a good night's sleep, exercise a majority of the 10 days, and eat REAL FOOD. Those are what you need to make sure you get. Now here's what to boot out for 10 days. You're gonna want to cut out gluten, dairy, alcohol, processed foods, artificial and refined sugars, and do your best not to eat after 6pm. The 6pm thing isn't doable for us. I don't get home from work and picking up my half of the offspring before 5:30. We don't usually eat before 6:30, so I just pushed it to not eating after 7pm. I feel like this is to encourage intermittent fasting without calling it that.
Lastly, if you want to be extra good, you're supposed to cut out caffeine. If you're a mom, that sounds ridiculous, and if you have an addiction to unsweetened iced green tea from Starbucks like I do, the caffeine going bye, bye, probably doesn't sound like an option. SO if that's you, just try to cut down, like instead of my usual trenta green tea, I would get a tall, just to have the taste. If you're drinking three cups of coffee, try to limit it to just one, with no creamer or sweetener. I've been drinking my hot coffee black for several years now, I'll never go back to overly sweet, cream heavy coffee. You can do it too! I believe in you!

I obviously wouldn't put this out here if I didn't believe in it and know it works. Those three pounds I gained on vacation? Gone in three days. Now I know, I know, those three pounds were probably water weight. But still three pounds off, is three pounds off. I honestly believe that if I hadn't come home mentally prepared to do this, and committed to do this, those three pounds would have taken longer to get gone. I KNOW that I would have felt defeated and jumped the tracks only to go back down the road and end up further than where I started. Shred 10 was a total life saver!
